Working environment

You will work in a technical Mainframe Storage environment focused on storage operations, capacity, performance, backup/recovery, replication and resilience.

1. Location: fully remote.
2. Hours: 40 hours per week.
3. Working hours: 08:30–17:00 CET.
4. Working language: English.
5. Joining preference: immediate availability.

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Storage Specialist with 10 to 20 years of Mainframe experience. The technical focus is on z/OS Storage Management, CA-to-IBM migration, Dell storage technologies, storage replication, backup/recovery and tape/VTL environments.

What will you do

1. Manage and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems, including DASD, tape and virtual storage.
2. Perform storage allocation, dataset management and volume configuration.
3. Ensure efficient space utilisation and storage lifecycle management.
4. Monitor storage usage and forecast capacity requirements.
5. Optimise I/O performance and reduce storage bottlenecks.
6. Implement and monitor backup and recovery processes.
7. Participate in Disaster Recovery drills and storage failover activities.
8. Perform Sync Confirmation, Stop/Suspend Replication and Personality Swap activities using Dell storage technologies.
9. Install and maintain storage-related software and utilities and support hardware upgrades.
10. Provide L2/L3 technical support for storage-related incidents.
11. Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
12. Implement changes through CAB processes.
13. Develop automation scripts for storage operations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

What do you bring

Must haves

1. 10 to 20 years of relevant Mainframe experience.
2. Strong hands-on experience with z/OS Storage Management covering DASD, SMS and HSM.
3. Product migration experience from CA tools/software to IBM tools/software.
4. Knowledge of DFSMS, DFSMSdss, DFHSM and IDCAMS.
5. Experience with storage replication and backup/recovery tools.
6. Experience with tape management systems and virtual tape libraries.
7. Experience with Dell Storage PMAX, VTL, DLM and DD.
8. Experience with Sync Confirmation, Stop/Suspend Replication and Personality Swap activities.
9. Fluent spoken and written English.

Nice to have

1. Experience migrating CA Allocate DASD Space and Placement to IBM TAAM/DFSMS.
2. Experience migrating CA-1 Tape Management to IBM DFSMSrmm.
3. Experience migrating CA Disk Backup and Restore to DFSMShsm.
4. Experience with storage capacity and I/O performance optimisation.
5. Experience with storage automation and DR/failover activities.
